Last updated 2026-10-05. Sheafwell is a Chrome extension by Great Work LLC, 651 N Broad St Suite 206, Middletown, DE 19709, USA (hello@greatwork.company). This page covers the extension. The Great Work privacy policy covers the licensing and billing service it uses.
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Sheafwell's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs also adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What Sheafwell does
Sheafwell saves the Gmail conversations you choose (by label, Gmail search, or by ticking them) as PDF files, downloaded to your computer or saved to a Google Drive folder, and can keep a search archived that way on a schedule while Chrome is open.
Google data Sheafwell accesses, and why
- Your Gmail messages, read-only (
gmail.readonly): only the conversations you list and choose. To list them, Sheafwell reads their headers (sender, recipients, subject, date). To make the PDFs, it reads the messages you chose, the pictures attached to them, and the attachments you asked to save or embed. It can't send, delete, label or change email. - Folders and files Sheafwell creates in Google Drive (
drive.file): Sheafwell creates the folders you save into and uploads the PDFs and attachments there. For automatic archives it uploads a new version of a conversation's PDF when a reply arrives. It can't open, list, change or delete any other file in your Drive. - Your Google account email address (
openid, email): to identify your free trial and your subscription.
Where your data goes
- Email content stays in your browser, your computer and your own Google account. Messages are fetched from Google's Gmail API directly into the extension, turned into PDFs there, and either handed to your browser as a download or uploaded directly to your Drive through Google's Drive API. They are held in memory only while a job runs.
- Nothing from your email reaches Great Work. No message content, subject, sender, recipient, label, attachment, file name or Gmail-scoped access token is ever sent to our servers or to anyone else. The extension's code blocks any request to our server that carries anything besides the licensing fields listed below.
- Pictures that live on the web are not downloaded. Loading them would tell the sender you opened the email, so Sheafwell notes them in the PDF instead. Pictures attached to the email are included.
- Great Work's licensing server (addons.greatwork.company) receives: a short-lived Google sign-in token limited to your email address (verified with Google once and not stored), which gives us your verified Google account email; the product name; and the number of emails each job saved (counted against your free trial or your plan's monthly limit). We keep your email address, your trial and monthly counts and your subscription status to run the trial, the plan limits and billing.
- Payments are handled by Stripe on Stripe's checkout page. Great Work receives your email address, plan and payment status from Stripe, never your card number.
What is stored on your computer
In Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on this computer: your PDF options, your automatic archives (Gmail search, the id and name of the Drive folder Sheafwell created, schedule), which conversations each archive already saved (conversation ids, Drive file ids and how many emails each held), a monthly count, the result of the last automatic run and a cached license status. No email content is stored. Removing the extension deletes this data. The two fonts the PDFs use ship inside the extension.
What we never do
- We don't sell or rent any data, and we don't use it for advertising, credit decisions or training AI models.
- No person at Great Work reads your email. We can't: it never reaches us.
- We don't use analytics or tracking inside the extension.
- We don't transfer Google user data to anyone, except as needed to comply with law.
Your choices
- Revoke Sheafwell's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Your PDFs and folders stay where you saved them.
- Ask us to delete your licensing record (email address, trial count) by writing to hello@greatwork.company. Billing records Stripe must keep for tax purposes are kept as the law requires.
- Cancel a subscription in Manage billing in the extension, or at addons.greatwork.company/billing.
Security
All traffic uses HTTPS. Google tokens stay in Chrome's identity cache. The licensing server stores only the data listed above, on a server run by Great Work in the United States.
Changes
If the data Sheafwell handles ever changes, we'll update this page and tell you in the extension before the change applies.
