Remarkwell privacy policy
Last updated 2026-10-01. Remarkwell is a Google Docs, Slides and Forms add-on made by Great Work LLC, 651 N Broad St Suite 206, Middletown, DE 19709 (hello@greatwork.company).
Your recordings
- Remarkwell records audio in your browser only while you have pressed the record button, and only after your browser asks you for the microphone. It stops when you press Stop, Cancel, or close the sidebar.
- Each recording goes from your browser to Google, into your own Google Drive (folder "Voice notes (Remarkwell)"). It never passes through or is stored on Great Work's servers.
- The recording's sharing is set to the option you chose in Remarkwell's settings: people in your Google Workspace organization with the link, anyone with the link, the people the document is shared with, or only you. You can change it in Drive at any time.
- You delete a recording by deleting the file in Google Drive, or with "Remove and delete the recording" in the add-on.
Google data Remarkwell uses
- The open document, presentation or form (documents.currentonly, presentations.currentonly, forms.currentonly): to insert a note's link or play button where you choose, to list the notes already in that file, to remove one you ask to remove, and, if you pick "Only people this file is shared with", to read that file's list of editors and viewers so they can be added as listeners of the recording. Remarkwell doesn't read or keep the text of your documents.
- Files Remarkwell creates (drive.file): to create the folder and audio files in your Drive and set their sharing. Remarkwell can't see any other file in your Drive.
- Your Google account email (userinfo.email): to run your free trial and plan.
- Sidebar and external requests (script.container.ui, script.external_request): to show the sidebar, and to check your plan with addons.greatwork.company.
Remarkwell's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We don't use Google data for advertising, don't sell it, and don't use it to train AI models.
What Great Work stores
- The email address of the Google account using Remarkwell, how many notes you have recorded during the trial, and, if you subscribe, your Stripe customer and subscription ids and status. Card details go straight to Stripe.
- Your settings, saved clips list and recent notes list (Drive file ids, labels and lengths) are kept in your own Google account's add-on storage (Apps Script user properties), not on our servers.
The player page
Note links open addons.greatwork.company/voice-notes. The note's Drive id is in the part of the link after "#", which browsers don't send to servers, so our server logs never contain which note was played or who played it. The page shows Google Drive's own player, which loads the audio from Google with the listener's own Google account. Google's privacy policy applies to that player.
Sharing and deletion
We share data only with Stripe, to process payments. To delete what we store, email hello@greatwork.company from the account in question; we delete it within 30 days (keeping billing records the law requires). Your recordings are in your Drive and are yours to keep or delete.
Children and schools
Remarkwell is a tool for teachers and other adults; students can listen to notes without installing anything. When a school installs Remarkwell for students, recordings still go only to each user's own school Drive, under the school's Google Workspace controls. Great Work stores no student data beyond the account email needed to check a plan.
