What it does
Combine
Tabs from this spreadsheet and other spreadsheets you pick, stacked into one tab. Columns line up by header name, and a Source column says where each row came from.
Group and total
Sum, count, average, smallest, largest, first, last or join, grouped by any columns. Totals in and out are shown side by side.
Compare
Match rows by any number of key columns and get New, Removed and Changed rows, with changed cells colored and "Price: 45 → 49" notes.
Merge by key
Fill empty cells or overwrite from another table, add its columns, append rows that matched nothing. Formulas are never overwritten.
Refresh
Combined, totaled and compare tabs remember how they were made. "All tabs whose name contains 2026" picks up next month's tab.
Values stay exact
Leading zeros, codes that look like dates, real dates, IMAGE() pictures and pictures in cells come across as they were.
Nothing changes until you've seen it
- Every job starts with a free preview: row counts per source, a sample of the result, totals, or every cell a merge will change.
- Results go to new tabs. Tabmeld only rewrites tabs it created, never one of yours.
- Merge asks you to confirm, makes a backup tab first, and restores it in one click. If the data changes between the preview and the update, you get a new preview instead.
- When totaling, any value that isn't a number is listed in the preview instead of quietly left out.

Privacy
- Tabmeld can open the spreadsheet you use it in (
spreadsheets.currentonly) and only the other spreadsheets you pick in the Google file picker (drive.file). It can't list or open anything else in your Drive, and picked files are only read, never changed. - Your data stays in Google. Our server receives your email address and a count of runs to check your plan, nothing from your files.
- We don't sell data, use it for ads, or use it to train AI. Tabmeld's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How do I open it?
In a Google Sheet: Extensions > Tabmeld, then Combine sheets, Compare sheets or Merge sheets by key.
Can it read a spreadsheet I don't own?
Yes, if it's shared with you and you pick it in the file picker. Tabmeld reads it with your own access.
How big can the tables be?
Up to 3 million cells read and 2 million cells written per run. Very large jobs are split across runs by combining fewer files at a time.
Does it update on its own?
Not in the background. Click Refresh in the sidebar or Extensions > Tabmeld > Refresh combined tabs; each refresh counts as a run.
