A QR code or barcode for every row of your Google Sheet

Rowcode turns spreadsheet rows into QR codes and barcodes, right inside each row, and prints them on Avery labels. Codes are made inside Google and never expire.

What it does

Every common code type

QR codes for links, text, Wi-Fi and forms. Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A, EAN-8, Code 39 and ITF-14 barcodes, with check digits added for you.

Inside each row

Each code lands as an image in its own row, so it moves with the row when you sort or filter. Build the content from one column or several: https://shop.example.com/item/{{SKU}}.

Printable labels

PDFs for Avery 5160, 5161, 5162, 5163, 5164, 5167 and A4 L7159, L7160, L7163, L7651, plain-paper grids, posters or your own layout. Up to three lines of text per label.

PNG files

A ZIP with one image per row, named from your columns, for print shops, packaging and design tools.

Always up to date

Turn on automatic mode and a row's code updates within seconds when its value changes or a Google Form adds a response.

One-off codes

A single QR for a link, your Wi-Fi network or this sheet's Google Form, as a cell image, PNG or poster PDF.

What we fixed

We read every review of the popular QR add-ons. These are the complaints, and what Rowcode does instead.

The complaintRowcode
"QR code worked on my poster, the next day it expired with a prompt to pay."Codes hold your text directly. No short link, no redirect, nothing of ours in between. They work forever, even if you cancel or uninstall.
"Doesn't work. No instructions."A free preview shows sample codes and every row that can't be encoded, with the reason. "Try it with sample data" sets up a working example in one click.
Listed as free, then charged. The price is on this page, in the listing and in the sidebar from the first minute. The trial counts down in plain numbers.
Values sent to an outside QR website.Codes are drawn by Rowcode's own code on Google's servers. Your data never leaves Google.
Support never answers.A person answers hello@greatwork.company within one business day.

How to use it

  1. Install Rowcode, then open a spreadsheet with headers in row 1 and one item per row.
  2. Open Extensions > Rowcode > Open Rowcode.
  3. Pick the code type and the column (or write a template with {{Column}} values).
  4. Check the preview, then click Make codes.
  5. For labels, open Labels & files, choose your label sheet and download the PDF. Print at 100% ("Actual size").
Barcode numbers lost their leading zeros? Sheets stores them as numbers. Select the column, choose Format > Number > Plain text and retype the values. Rowcode points this out when it sees it.

Privacy and permissions

Rowcode only uses non-sensitive permissions: it can see the spreadsheet you open it in, show its sidebar, check your license, save files it creates to your Drive (only if you choose "Save to Drive") and, if you turn on automatic mode, run when that spreadsheet changes. Your spreadsheet values are never sent to us. Our licensing server sees your Google account email and how many codes you made during the trial. Full details: privacy policy and terms.

FAQ

Do the codes expire?

No. A Rowcode QR holds your link or text itself. There's no short link or redirect for anyone to switch off.

Which scanners can read them?

Any phone camera for QR codes, and standard retail and warehouse scanners for the barcodes. We test every code type with two independent decoders before each release.

Can I use my own label size?

Yes. Choose "Custom layout" and enter columns, rows, label size, margins and gaps in millimetres.

Does it work with Google Forms?

Yes. Make a QR poster for the form linked to your spreadsheet in one click, and turn on automatic mode to give each new response its own code, for example as an event ticket.

How do I cancel?

Open Extensions > Rowcode > Plans and billing and click Manage billing. It takes one step.
