Privacy: Email Clipper for Notion
Last updated 2026-10-01. This page adds add-on specific detail to the Great Work privacy policy, which covers the licensing and billing service. This add-on handles data differently from our spreadsheet add-ons in one way: at your request, it sends the content of an email to Notion, a third-party service you connect.
Google data the add-on accesses
- The email you have open, when you use the add-on (scope
gmail.addons.current.message.readonly): its subject, sender, recipients, date, message and thread IDs, HTML and plain-text body, attachments and the thread's labels. Gmail only grants this for the message on screen, and only while you are using the add-on. The add-on cannot list, search, read, label, move, delete or send any other email. - Your email address (
userinfo.email): to identify your license, to build a link that opens the saved email in the right Gmail account, and to keep your settings separate from other people's. - Your Gmail time zone (
script.locale): to write the email's date in your local time on the saved page.
How it is used and where it goes
- When you click Save to Notion, the add-on reads the open email inside Google's Apps Script environment, converts it, and sends it over HTTPS directly to the Notion API (api.notion.com) using the Notion connection you created. It creates one page in the database you chose and uploads the attachments you left switched on. Nothing is sent until you click Save.
- When the add-on card opens, it reads the open email's subject, sender and attachment names to fill in the card. That stays inside Google.
- Email content never reaches Great Work servers. The only data sent to Great Work (addons.greatwork.company) is your Google account email address, the add-on name and a count of saves, to run the trial and your subscription.
- Once a page is in Notion, Notion's own privacy policy and your workspace's settings govern it.
What is stored, and where
- Your Notion connection: either the OAuth access and refresh tokens Notion issues when you click Connect Notion, or the integration secret you paste. Stored in your own Apps Script user properties inside Google, readable only by the add-on running as you. Never shared with teammates and never sent to Great Work.
- Your preferences: chosen databases (their IDs and names), field mapping, fixed values and switches. Same user properties.
- A short list of emails you saved: Gmail message ID, the Notion page link, the database name and the time, for your last 60 saves, so the card can show "Already saved". Same user properties.
- A 10-minute cache of your database names (Apps Script user cache), so the card opens quickly.
- No email bodies or attachments are stored by the add-on. They exist only in Gmail and in the Notion page you created.
Sharing
We don't sell, rent or share Google user data. The email you save goes only to the Notion workspace you connected. Payment details go to Stripe, never to us.
Limited Use
Email Clipper for Notion's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is transferred only to Notion, at your explicit request, to provide the feature you are using. We don't use Google user data for advertising, no person at Great Work reads your email, and we don't use it to train AI models.
Deleting your data
- Disconnect in the add-on's Settings deletes your stored Notion connection. To also revoke it on Notion's side, remove the integration in Notion under Settings, Connections.
- Uninstalling the add-on (Gmail Settings, Add-ons, or the Marketplace) stops all access. Your preferences remain in Google's add-on storage until Google removes them; ask us and we'll explain how to clear them first.
- Pages you saved are yours, in your Notion workspace. Delete them in Notion.
- To delete your license record (email, save count, subscription ids), email hello@greatwork.company from that account. We delete it within 30 days, apart from billing records the law requires us to keep.
