Your question bank, as a Google Forms quiz.

Quizferry imports questions into Google Forms from a Google Sheet, a Google Doc or pasted text, with answer keys, points, feedback, pictures and sections. Draw random versions from one bank, and export each version's answer key.

How it works

  1. Open the form you want to fill. A blank one from forms.new is fine.
  2. Choose Extensions > Quizferry > Build from a question bank.
  3. Pick your sheet or Doc in Google's file picker, or paste your questions.
  4. Click Check. You see exactly what will be built, and every problem by row or line. Nothing changes yet.
  5. Click Build. Rebuilding later replaces only what Quizferry added; your own questions stay.

What it builds

Every question type

Multiple choice, checkboxes, dropdowns, short answer, paragraph, true/false and linear scales, plus sections, text blocks and pictures.

Real quizzes

Answer keys, points, feedback for right and wrong answers with links, short answer keys, required questions.

Random versions

Draw a set number from each topic. A draw code rebuilds the same version. Mix question and answer order.

Answer keys to a sheet

Export each version's questions and answers in form order, ready to print or share with a co-teacher.

Your bank, as it is

In a sheet, put one question per row. Columns are matched by name, so banks made for other tools usually work unchanged:

QuestionTypeChoicesAnswerPointsTopic
Which organelle makes most of a cell's energy?Multiple choiceNucleus | Mitochondria | RibosomeB2Organelles
Which are products of photosynthesis?CheckboxOxygen | Glucose | Carbon dioxideA, B2Processes
Name the process plants use to make food.Short answerPhotosynthesis1Processes

Choices can also go in columns (Choice 1, 2, 3 or A, B, C, D) or as Correct + Incorrect 1, 2, 3. Add Feedback, Image URL, Section and Required columns when you need them. In a Doc or pasted text, write the test the way you already do:

1. Which word means "very large"?
A. Tiny
B. Enormous *
C. Fragile
Points: 2
Feedback: Enormous comes from the Latin enormis.

Mark the right answer with a *, bold, [x] or an Answer: line. Aiken format works too. Headings become sections and pictures come along.

Privacy and permissions

Quizferry works inside the form you open it in. It reads only the sheet or Doc you pick in Google's file picker, and creates new sheets only when you ask for a template or an answer key. Your questions go from Google straight into your form and are never sent to Great Work. Our server sees only your Google account email, to check your plan. It has no access to your other Drive files, your Gmail or your other forms.

Questions

Can it create a new form?

It builds into the form you open it in, which keeps its permissions narrow. Start from a blank form (forms.new) or copy one you like for the theme.

What about images on individual choices?

Google doesn't let add-ons put pictures on choices, so Quizferry adds the picture above the question.

Can students get different questions?

Make versions with Random draw (one form per version). Quizferry can also switch on per-respondent question and answer shuffling for you.
